Cycle-Ops in Tonbridge has partnered with CycleFit of Covent Garden to provide bike fitting to the highest standards, incorporating the latest and best practice. To ensure our services meet CycleFit standards, we have created a state of the art “Cyclefit Studio” in our new “Custom Shop”.

The studio is only the start; most importantly our Consulting Technicians are CycleFit accredited. From experience CycleFit understand that the training and skill of the bike fitter is most important, and that technology is a tool to assist the process. Therefore our Consulting Technicians, Paul and Carl, have spent many hours being trained by the hugely experienced people at CycleFit - gaining lots of practical and hands-on experience in the process. Paul, our experienced lead Technician, has taken his existing fit skills to a new level as a consequence.

Either of them can therefore provide you with an excellent level of service, to the same comprehensive and rigorous bike fitting standards that have been developed by CycleFit at Covent Garden over the last ten years. Whether undertaking a full SizeCycle Fitting, an On-The-Bike Fitting, or any of our other services – rest assured that you will get a fit experience superior to other "bike-fitting" systems currently available.

Our state of the art studio is fitted with a Seastrom SizeCycle for precise positional adjustment, incorporating real-time pedaling analysis – all recorded on CompuTrainer “SpinScan” software. We also utilise Dartfish Motion Analysis to measure your body metrics while in motion – all recorded on Dartfish TV for analysis during the CycleFit, and for future reference.

...

Our No.2 fit studio is set up for On-The-Bike fits, cleat set up, shoe fit consultations, and bike handouts.

We offer a range of Bike Fitting options and services, from Full SizeCycle fits (for those who want the optimal fit), through On-The-Bike fits (good for beginners and getting an existing bike to fit better) to Foot Analysis, Cleat set up and Custom insoles.

For more info, please feel free to call us on 01732 500533.

Who should have a CycleFit? -
Anyone who plans to ride a bike for any period of time should consider having their position assessed to ensure optimal efficiency, comfort and injury prevention. All cyclists, no matter how long they have been riding or their ability, can improve their cycling biomechanics by having a thorough analysis as part of a CycleFit.

Over the years we have seen too many cyclists who have bought a bike without any assessment and have suffered back pain, knee pain, neck pain etc… often suffering in silence for years for no good reason. We hate to see this.

Our clients have performed better and enjoy their riding more as a consequence of one of our fits – we know this from ongoing customer feedback
And you will too.

Womens Fit at Cycle-Ops
This section should not need to exist, but – as there are fewer options for women when buying a bike, and there is a common and badly misconceived 'Pink and Shrink' approach by so many manufacturers of women's bikes and frames – its arguably even more important for women to have a bike fit.

We believe that women have been historically poorly served in general by an often myopic male-centric cycling industry. In contrast, a CycleFit session is the same regardless of how many ribs you have - you are an individual and your position and set-up should reflect exactly that.

When you have a CycleFit with us, we will take time and care to offer you the best selection of individual components to ensure that you feel absolutely perfect on your bike afterwards.

If you are looking for a new bike, we also stock, or can offer a range of bikes and frames that will offer you a good fit - either directly from the box, or with some adaption.

A CycleFit - A Brief Overview
If you aspire to ride a bike to the best of your ability, a CycleFit is where you need to start. The time you spend in our CycleFit studio will opitmise your riding position, eliminate niggles, and maybe help you decide on the type of bike / geometry that suits your requirements best.

CycleFit consultations last from an hour and a half upwards, depending on the level of service you choose. A full SizeCycle fit will take up to three hours with one of our fit Consulting Technicians – these things can’t be hurried.

A fit session always begins with a discussion of the type of riding you do (or that you want to be able to do), involves a series of standing / prone flexibility tests, cleat set up, time on the bike, and ends with the measurements for your optimal bike position. This involves a balance between comfort, and efficiency, always paying particular attention to injury prevention.

The information that we capture from the CycleFit is yours to take away, and will include our observations and recommendations as well as all the measurements you need to set up any bike to your recommended position.

A CycleFit - Possible Outcomes
There are several possible outcomes from your CycleFit session, ranging from :-

  • Work to adapt your exsisting bike (allow for a new stem minimum, possibly different handlebars and saddle).
  • Adjustments to a new bike similarly, (whether brought from us or elsewhere).
  • Using the information to select a new bike, (whether from us or another retailer).
  • Opting for a frame swap, onto a Custom, or off-the-peg frame. (NOTE; we are unable to offer specific advice on frames sizing for brands that we do not supply)
  • Going the whole hog and having a Custom bike built to your own requirements in Carbon, Titanium, or Steel. More...Why buy Custom?
  • Or simply spending time on your bike, and improving your core body strength and physique through planned exercise.
