PLEASE NOTE: We are not a stand alone hire centre, such as at Bewl Water or Bedgebury, but a shop that also hires bikes as a secondary activity - our maximun number of bikes is about 30, so to avoid dissapointment please contact us before setting off to check availability and book ahesad.

Rates

We don't just charge the same amount per day, but have lower rates for extra days and weeks, making longer hires affordable for you, and we charge less per bike for group hires. Check out our family rates. Rates are shown below. Once you've decided what to go for, then contact us to book.
PLEASE NOTE: Overall our Hire Rates are lower than the rates at Bedgebury or Bewl, however we do not offer bike hire by the hour. (Please see our Rates below). Car parking in Tonbridge is cheaper, and free on Sundays and Bank Holidays, whilst the Penshurst Route has more facilities and attractions to visit and entertain you, both during and after the ride.

Bikes

Our principal hire bikes are Trek Navigator comfort MTBs. These have an upright riding position, comfy saddle, mudguards, a rear luggage rack and prop stand. We also have step through bikes to carry child seats, trailer bikes and buggies, as well as a small selection of folding bikes, road race bikes and mountain bikes (the last are only available to special order). Routes

New: traffic-free trail to Penshurst* – great for all the family. A lovely ride up the Medway valley and back agin - about ten miles in all, with a choice of places for refreshmant, and play areas for the kids along the way.

If you choose to visit Penshurst Place Gardens (with adventure playground) or the House, just arriving by bike will get you reduced admission - show the admissions staff your Hire Form as proof of arrival by bike.

Otherwise just ride out across the back of the Sports Ground and enjoy the Contry Park, Kids play areas, and the opportuinty to visit a country pub.

We have a choice of other routes,which are mostly on road, that can take you to Ightham Mote, Knowle House or Goombridge Place We can also help you with route advice on getting to other attractions in Kent and East Sussex. Ask about our route planning service.

Hire Rates

Notes:
* 2 hour rate only available after 1.30 PM on Sundays and Bank Holidays - cannot be pre-booked.
** Trailer bikes, trailers (buggies) and child seats are only available with a cycle-ops hire bike.
*** Varies according to the quality of the bike. Phone for availability.
**** All cycle helmets are subject to regular checks and hygiene regime.

Upgrade to Comfort MTB for only £8. Only available if taking bikes only.

Notes:
Panniers vary in size according to type.
Handlebar bags are useful to carry camera, sun-cream, snacks and valuables.

Standard bike boxes vary in size - please specify the type of bike and frame size. Box comes with two wheel bags, lengths of foam packing and a roll of clear packiong tape.

Bikeboxalan are the best bike boxes you can get, and offer the best protection for your bike and wheels against airport baggae handlers.

Note: We advise hat you check with your airline for any size or weight restrictions on baggage before reserving boxese. Standard bikie boxes are - 810(H) by 3005(W)by 1000(L), or 850(H)by 300(W)by 1150(L). Bikebox alan are 960(H) by 350(W) by 1150(L).

To reserve a hire bike or bikes -

Contact us by email (shopemail) or by phone on 01732 500533. To secure a hire booking we need your-

• Full name
• Address (in UK preferably)
• Telephone number (mobile preferably)
• Credit card details.

This will secure your booking, and the bikes will be ready for you when you arrive. This booking must be done by phone at present. PLEASE NOTE: If you do not book bikes we cannot guarantee that bikes will be available for hire when you arrive. People hiring without booking may also have to wait a while to be served - as staff may already be busy.

• We accept cash, cheques with guarantee card, and any Visa, Switch or MasterCard. Unfortunately we cannot accept American Express.
• You must pay any hire payment plus a deposit before we can release the bike.
• Prior to the day- You can send a cheque by post or let us have your credit card details over the phone.
• On the day- Pay by any of the means above.
• We are investigating the possibility of Web based payment, and hope to offer this service soon.
• Please note. We will require 2 proofs of identity prior to hire - this can be any mix of Credit Card, Drivers License, Passport, Utility bill, Student Card etc.....

CANCELLATION POLICY.

1/ If we reserve bikes for you and you fail to give us cancellation notice before close of business the day before the hire, we reserve the right to charge 25%, or £ 10 (whichever is the greater)of the hire charge. This will be waived if we hire the bikes otherwise.

2/ We reserve the right to charge 50% of the hire charge if the bike/s is/are prepared for you and you do not show up on the day.

Hire Details

• Each hire /group will be given spare tube/e, lock/s, tools and pump/s, usually in a pannier bag attached to the side of the bike. Some bikes have handlebar mounted clips that can take route holders or a bar bag. If you want one of these please arrange when booking.
• We are insured for our own Public Liability, and against theft of the cycle - please see Terms and Conditions.

Hire Terms and Conditions

THE HIRER AGREES AND ACKNOWLEDGES AS FOLLOWS;

1. Any reference to "cycle" shall mean the cycle or cycles hired by the hirer from cycle-ops.co.uk, henceforward referred to as cycle-ops.
2. That the cycle remains the property of cycle-ops at all times.
3. That the cycle shall not be taken outside the United Kingdom without the permission of cycle-ops.
4. To use the cycle in a proper and careful manner for social and domestic purposes, and not to use the cycle for racing and / or for reward.
5. To pay any deposits and hire charge as specified overleaf as they fall due and to leave security as agreed.
6. To secure the cycle when left unattended, by locking the front wheel and frame to a permanent fixture by means of the lock provided by cycle-ops. At night to similarly secure the cycle in a locked building.
7. To return the cycle to cycle-ops at the end of the specified hire period, or to notify cycle-ops as soon as possible, and in any event before the end of the hire period, of a wish to extend the hire period.
8. That the cycle has been received in an undamaged and roadworthy condition and that it is the hirers’ responsibility to return the cycle in a similar condition at the end of the hire period. Fair wear and tear is included in the hire charge. Cycle-ops hire cycles are checked prior to hire and are serviced at least once a year.
9. That the hirer is responsible during the hire period for the repair and upkeep of the cycle and accessories needed due to accident or damage.
10. Puncturers are at the hirers risk. Cycle-ops can provide a call out repair service within 20 miles of the hire point, and this will be charged for unless the problem was caused by mechnaical failure. If further away than this, then Cycle ops will at our disrection, direct you to a suitable nearby cycle shop that can effect a repair. Cycle ops will cover the cost of the repair so long as it is undertaken at a reputable cycle shop and carried out with the prior approval of cycle-ops.
11. That a cleaning charge of up to £5.oo per cycle may be incurred if the cycle is returned in a dirty or muddy condition.
12. That money may be deducted from any deposit to cover loss or damage to the cycle and accessories.
13. Cycle-ops reserve the right to claim additional monies from the hirer for any loss or damage to the cycle.
14. To notify cycle-ops forthwith of any loss or damage to the cycle, and to complete any relevant documentation arising from any of the above.
15. Cycle-ops will not be liable for any injury, loss or damage from use of the cycle howsoever caused.
16. Hire charges are refundable against a new bike purchase on the following terms: A single days hire on purchases up to £1,500; Up to one weeks hire on purchases over £1,500. Valid for one week after hire. Only one hire charge refunded per bike purchased - not valid against a multiple hire.
17. This contract shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law, and all legal proceedings shall be brought in the English Courts.

PLEASE NOTE –

We reserve the right to retain a deposit if cancellation is not notified to us 24 hours before the hire date. In the case of Tandems we reserve the right to retain a deposit should we be unable to hire the bike otherwise.
We retain the right to charge the full hire charge if the bike is prepared for you, and with or without a notice of cancellation , we are unable to hire the bike otherwise
